Jonas learns about the concept of "sameness" in chapter 11. Is there any kind of situation that would make you willing to trade youmrloce for "sameness"? Is so, what would it be? If not, why not?
Jonas' dream is an important part of foreshadowing. If you were Jonas, how would you react to that dream?

We would not be willing to trade our lifes for sameness because we belive that everyone needs to have their own freedom and the option for a choise and the right to see everything that exists and not a very small part of the world.
ReplyDeleteWe think that if we were Jonas we would be very surpised and we wouldn't have known how to react. We will probably be surprised because we wouldn't be familiar with the situation and things like snow, hills, sunshine etc.

I am not willing to trade my life for any situation because my life is my life, without my life i'm worthless and I belive that everyone should have a life of his own because every person is differrent than the other and I also think that every person deserve to be able to choose what he wants, to think what he wants and to feel whatever he wants to feel.
ReplyDeleteIf i was Jonas, I would be very interested to know what will happend after the dream ends and I would ask the giver to give me the whole memory of the snow and the hill.
I would NEVER trade my life for sameness. I also hate sameness. I live only for the special and strange things in my life, becouse without them it's boring and worth nothing.
ReplyDeleteI would be very scared in reaction to the memory, after all, an old man is touching me while i don't have my shirt on...
I would never under any circumstance trade my life away for sameness because it sound boring and I like my own specialties.
ReplyDeleteI would be kind of scared because it is something i have never felt before and would be wierd for me.
If the world will be ruled by the machines I would love to move to sameness. I think that sameness is much better then death.
ReplyDeleteI would like the fact that I could know what happend in the very far past. I will be scared as well because maybe I'll get some memories I dont want to have.
- I think that although "sameness" has many disadvantages, it also has advantages that I would trade my life for. In our world, there are so many people who are miserable because they are different from others, whether from a disability or down syndrome or their appearance or anything else. If we had "sameness", people wouldn't suffer from those problems and our world would be a better one.
ReplyDelete- If I were Jonas I would take the dream as a hint there is more to come and would be excited. I would see how my career takes such a big part in my life that even my dreams are about it.
I think there are very little situations, where I would trade my personal life to being the same and a part of a closed society like Jonas's community. The independence and freedom I have is very important to me. On the other hand, sometimes, having no choices would be easier. Like not having to choose between friends in different occasions. because it can hurt others.
ReplyDeleteIf I got received the memory of snow and hills, I would probably get really excited and totally freak out. Getting memories of things I didnt think existed, by getting touched by an old man? Really freaky, but awesome too.
I wouldn't trade my life for sameness at any situation because I think that everyone should have a choices to choose what to do with his own life. Maybe the only thing that would make me want to trade my life for sameness is if monsters will control the world and they demand us, the human, to do whatever they want us to do or something from this kind.
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't trade my life to "sameness". I prefer to be an individual person. If everybody will do the same things and could not make their own decisions, then the world will become a boring place. Sameness is not good because people will not think outside of the box and there will not be any new inventions.
ReplyDeleteIf I was Jonas I'll be very curious to know: what's at the end of the hill? What does this dream mean? Of course, I will be surprised from all the new things, I didn't know existed.

I wouldn't trade my life for sameness because of ___ major reasons: first, in sameness there's no such thing called "special". That means that there's no secrets, because everybody is the same. Second sameness is taking the excitement of our lives and make every boring and the same all the time.
ReplyDeleteIf I was Jonas I would be very surprised and a little bit happy. I would be happy because now I know something great that nobody else know [except The Giver].

ReplyDeleteI would never trade my life to sameness, because I think that is a good that every person is different, and have a special personality. I think that the sameness makes people to act and live like a robots-they won't make their own decisions, and there won't be eny special abilities to people.
I will be scared at this situation because I would not experienced that feel before. On the other side, I now know a special feel that just me and the giver know.
I wouldn't want to trade my life for sameness, because it is boring, and nothing really interesting happens in your life and also because if everything is the same, then you don't know about anything other then your neighbor and the building next to your house (you don't know that there is something another then just the same buildings and people)
ReplyDeleteIt would make me think alot about life and who I really am and why everything is the same, and I would be angry.
There are some situations that I would like to change to "sameness". At most part of my life I love the part that we aren't the same, different, people don’t force us to do thing we don’t like to. For an example we can wear different clothes each day and we can chose which cloths we like to have, we aren’t forced to wear something specific. The situations that I would like to change to "sameness" are times when people are compared to others by how they look, when people are liked more or less because of things that they are allegedly "different" in, times that you don’t want to decide thing and you prefer that other people choose for you, like a job and Etc.
ReplyDeleteIf I was Jonas I think I would be pretty excited because the hill, the snow and the sled are things that I never knew that existed and it’s the first time I've seen something like that.
- I wouldn't trade my life for sameness because life will be boring that way,and I think everyone should have the option to choose for their lives.
ReplyDelete- If I was Jonas in that situation, I will be very ecxited because I didn't know that the words: hill and snow were exist, but also, I will feel very weird, because only me and The Giver know what is the meaning of those words.
I will not be willing to trade my feelings for sameness. I think sameness is a bed and a wrong concept. I think every person needs to have their opportunity to feel special and different. Every person have the right to exspress his feeling just if he wants to.
ReplyDeleteIf I was jonas I would be a bit frightened because he dreamt about things he did not knew like snow and hills. Although I think I'll be intrested and curious obout the meaning of these two things and I would like to know more about theme.
I would never trade my life or my feelings for sameness because without differences our lives would be exactly the same and it would create a situation in which a life of a person isn't worth so much (there's a lot spare…).
ReplyDeleteIf I was Jonas I probably would have been very excited and curious to see things that I didn't even know that existed.
am not willing to trade my life for any situation because my life are perfect and I belive that everyone should have a perfect life or not perfect because every person is differrent than the other and everyone deserves to live.I also think that every person deserve to be able to choose what he or she wants, to think what he or she wants and feel what he or she wants.
ReplyDeleteIf i were Jonas, I would be interested to know what is like to feel pain or other hart feelings.
I do not think there is any situation I would like to trade my own personality to keep up "sameness" between others. It is true that it helps to the organization of things and making it more clear, but I do not like the idea of it. I think each one should be proud of their own personality and different habits and all kind of things that make us special. There are sometimes that I do want to get together with everyone, yet it does not mean I have to give up on myself and my choice just to blend with others.
ReplyDeleteI think that if I would have the same dream as Jonas does, of the wonderful feeling of happiness and thriller after all the time I was shut within the community and tried to avoid such intense feelings I would also feel the huge gap, of something that I yearn for and is far away from me, I would try to find out what is the thing or the certain feelings I have missed and would also try to learn how to find and receive it.
I never wanted to give up freedom, and will never want, because I always want to live my life even with the consequences. After dreaming that dream, I would want to ask the giver to show me the rest of that memory.
