Final Journal:
Write a short summary of what you think happens to Jonas after the end of the book. 

Ch 20 Journal

Chapter 20:
Jonas and the Giver create a plan to escape. Would you make a plan to escape and risk your life, or would you stay there? Why?

How would you react if you discovered that a family member’s job mandated that s/he kill people and babies? What would you do? 

Chapter 17 Journal

Chapter 17:
Jonas realizes that his knowledge of the past has made him an outsider among his peers. When have you felt like an outsider among your peers? Describe what happened.

Ch 15;
The memory of warfare is shocking for Jonas and really affects him. If you were suddenly drafted into the military and surrounded by some of your fellow troop members being killed, how would you respond? What would you do to try and keep your insanity?


Ch 16:
The memories that Jonas has have transformed him from a naive child to an adult. How is this like the change from elementary school to middle or high school? 

Chapter 13/14 journal

Jonas experiences real pain for the first time. Because of this pain, Jonas tries to come up with alternatives for passing memories to the community. What kind of plan would you fork if you were Jonas? Give details.

How would you describe the baby? What do you think happens when there is a "release"? Why do you think it's called release?
